I took this photo around 1971 just outside my old hometown of Watseka Illinois. This old graveyard is a little ways off the road known locally as "Bluebell Bend". During the 1980's much of the surrounding dense forest you see in this photo was cut, cleared and paved, and new homes built where there was nothing before but these quietly brooding woodlands. The cemetery is still there but will never have the lonely, secret, haunted quality it once possessed. Back to index.
