It's 1976, the band is called Popular Egg, and we're at a high school prom cheefully mangling something like "China Grove" or "I've Seen All Good People", or maybe "Color My World" with extended drum solos. I have a cassette of this gig which I've listened to a couple of times just to remind myself that there has been some apparent progress in my musical life. L-R: Brad Cluver on drums (he'd decided it was alright to play "secular rock" again), Rick Hastings on guitar, just visible to the right of Rick is a drumstick of the OTHER drummer John Carlson, then me on bass and Taurus pedals, Mark Bradford singing and Steve Harris on keyboards...or at least you can see his keyboard rig there but he seems to be mysteriously absent, maybe he was trying to get the Mellotron to work.
