Must be about 1985. Backstage during a break in the Bruce Odland Big Band set, somewhere in Denver Colorado. I am wearing an article of clothing which I'd made from a sack of 50 ties, a grass skirt, and a smoking jacket, all purchased at a thrift shop for a few dollars. The ties and grass skirt were torn up and sewn onto the (inside-out) jacket, resulting in what became know as "the Robe-O-Ties", which I wore onstage in various modifications throughout the mid to late 80's. In fact, in 1988 I was bestowed the honour of an award by Denver's Westword magazine for "Best Shredded Stagewear"! (Here's the Westword 1988 Best of Awards)

But what of that stripe on my forehead, and the blue teeth? Just before this photo was taken I'd put a drop of blue food coloring on my forehead thinking it would just run down a few inches and give me a decorative blue stripe for the next set, but I squeezed a bit too much and it ended up running all the way down my face into my mouth, turning my teeth (temporarily) blue. It tasted terrible alright, but it looked peculiar which is of course an onstage bonus.
