1982 or 83...the group was Rising Snail in Sky, which played every Wednesday night at the Mercury Cafe in Denver for several months. Here I was reading some lyrics given to us by an audience member through a piece of flexible tubing which I'd stuck over the microphone. A millisecond before the photo was taken, the tubing slipped off the mic, so here it's suspended in mid-air! Rising Snail in Sky was: me on drums, keyboards and vocals, Mike Johnson on guitar/keyboard (seen here at the right playing a Casio keyboard), Mark McCoin on vocals, tapes, keyboards and percussion, John Sheehan on bass (at far left), and any guests who felt like joining us.
